Salman Khan said he would go to Rio if possible during the Games
Yogeshwar Dutt, 2012 London Olympics bronze medallist, came down hard on officials for appointing Salman Khan as the goodwill ambassador of Indian contingent for 2016 Rio Olympics.
The announcement regarding Salman was made on Saturday morning, and the star wrestler took to social media to vent his anger. Yogeshwar said sports stars like PT USha and Milkha have made India proud in the world arena, but he questioned Salman Khan's contribution to sports.
"Sportspersons like PT Usha and Milkha Singh strived hard for the nation during difficult times. But what has this ambassador (Salman Khan) done in sports," Yogeshwar wrote on Twitter.
PT Usha,Milkha Singh jaise bade sports star hai jinhone kathin samay me desh ke liye mehnat ki. Khel ke kshetra me Es ambassador ne Kya kiya

The 33-year-old Dutt added that Olympics was not a place for movie promotion, adding that goodwill ambassador had practically no role to play. "Everybody has the right to promote movies in India, but Olympics is not a place to promote films. Can anyone tell me what is the role of goodwill ambassador? Why are you fooling the public?" Yogeshwar wrote.
Kahi bhi ja Kar apni movie ka promotion kare,Es desh me adhikar hai Lekin Olympic movie promotion ki jagah Nahi https://t.co/ed6vCqNMXT
