Traffic on the normally crowded roads was cleared for the team bus, which was escorted by gun-toting securitymen to the hotel in downtown Chittagong, where England take on Bangladesh in a key Group B match on Friday.
World Cup officials have beefed up security for players and officials in Bangladesh, following the stoning of the West Indies team bus in Dhaka last Friday.
The England squad is minus star batsman Kevin Pietersen, who left the southern Indian city of Chennai early Monday and made a transit stop in Kolkata before the hour-long flight to Chittagong.
Pietersen will miss the rest of the World Cup and return home to undergo a hernia operation.
Bangladesh, with two points, need a win to stay in contention for the quarter-finals. A victory for England will almost certainly lift them into the last eight.
