World Cup: Bangladesh v England

Hosts Bangladesh registered a 2-wickter win over England in their Pool A match at Chittagong on Friday.

The visitors did not have the greatest of starts with Matt Prior departing in the eight over. This after his team was put into bat.

Jonathan Trott stabilised the innings and hit a patient 67 of 99 balls. His innings had only two boundaries.

Trott was well supported by Eoin Morgan who hit 63 in quick time.

Once Trott departed though, picked up by Bangladesh skipper Shakin Al Hasan, the English batting collapsed in quick time. They managed to score 225.

Bangladesh began their chase well. Imrul Kayes' 60 gave his team a solid foundation.

Once Kayes returned to the pavilion, the challenge turned slow. The other top-order batsmen made only small contributions.

It was Ajmal Shahzad who brought the English back into the game. Three important middle-order wickets erased the batting to near extinction.

But tail-ender in Shafiul Islam put together a 58-run partnership for the ninth wicket with Mahmudullah to wrap the match up in his side's favour.
