The ICC has issued the Indian batsman, who scored 175 runs in the tournament opener against Bangladesh on Saturday, a warning referring to its guidelines which state that a batsman must wear a numbered jersey on the field.
Sehwag, who used to wear number 44 on his jersey, gave up wearing a numbered jersey since his comeback into the Indian side.
Indian players, who have various superstitions, generally sport their lucky numbers or consult numerologists for a favourable jersey number. For e.g.: MS Dhoni (7) and Yuvraj Singh (12) have their birth dates on their jerseys. But Viru believes he plays better when he's playing without a numbered jersey.
