R Ashwin has enjoyed a stellar Test career so far. Over 180 wickets in 33 Tests and 1300 runs. A bating average of 33 and a bowling average of 25. All these numbers show Ashwin as a wonderful all-rounder in the Indian team. Having not taken a wicket in the first innings, Ashwin made up with a magnificent display as he picked up yet another five-wicket haul to put India on top. Here are a list of his achievements.
17 - Number of five wicket hauls by R Ashwin in Tests. He is fourth in the all-time list amongst Indian bowlers. Anil Kumble has taken 35 five-wicket hauls, followed by Harbhajan Singh with 25 and Kapil Dev with 23.
1 - First five-wicket haul for Ashwin outside the sub-continent. His previous haul outside the sub-continent was 4/105 against Australia in 2014/15 in Sydney
2 - Number of instances where an Indian cricketer has scored a hundred and taken a five wicket haul in an innings. R Ashwin has achieved this twice. The other individual to achieve this feat was Polly Umrigar. Incidentally, Ashwin has achieved this feat both times against West Indies.
3 - Number of five wicket hauls by Ashwin against West Indies. He has three five-wicket hauls against New Zealand while he has four five-wicket hauls against South Africa and Australia
