Warriors Would Be "First In Line" For $145M Devin Booker To Help Stephen Curry
The Golden State Warriors could make Devin Booker their top target if Phoenix ever listens to offers, giving Stephen Curry another elite scorer with a strong Steve Kerr connection.
Devin Booker could become the name to watch if the Phoenix Suns ever change their stance, with the Golden State Warriors reportedly ready to make a serious move. Tim Kawakami believes Golden State would be “first in line” for Booker, especially because of his close connection with Steve Kerr. The Warriors have already explored major moves for another star, but those plans did not bring Giannis Antetokounmpo or LeBron James to the Bay Area. Now, Booker offers a different path.
Warriors See Devin Booker As Perfect Stephen Curry Partner
The Warriors still need more scoring around Stephen Curry, and Booker would fill that gap in a big way. On the Warriors Plus Minus podcast, Kawakami said Golden State likes Booker “too much” and pointed to his relationship with Kerr. Booker played for Kerr with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“If that plays out in a poor way, they've traded every draft pick. How do they get draft picks back? How do they restart? I know the Warriors would be first in line saying, ‘We got three first-round picks we can give you,'” Kawakami said. His comments make clear that Golden State could be ready to act if Phoenix ever makes Booker available.
Booker would also give Curry another player who can create his own shot. The five-time All-Star can score from outside, attack the rim and handle the ball. That could take some pressure off Curry, who has continued to carry a major part of Golden State's offense as the team looks for another deep playoff run.
Devin Booker's $145M Suns Deal Makes Warriors Move Difficult
There is a major problem for Golden State, though. Phoenix has shown no real interest in moving Booker. The Suns signed him to a two-year, $145 million extension in 2025, keeping him with the franchise through the 2029-30 season. NBA.com also lists Booker as Phoenix's all-time leading scorer.
Suns owner Mat Ishbia has been even more direct. After the 2025-26 season, Ishbia said, “Devin Booker is not getting traded.” He has continued to shut down trade talk around his star, including as recently as August 2026.
That makes the Warriors' interest more of a future possibility than an active trade situation. Booker has spent his entire NBA career in Phoenix and has publicly spoken about his love for the city. Still, NBA stars have been traded before despite strong ties to their teams. If Phoenix ever changes course, Golden State appears ready to make the call.
