Singaporean internet personality Amos Yee is back in the headlines after videos showing him getting assaulted outside an anime convention started spreading across social media. The incident reportedly happened on May 9, 2026, outside Doujin Market 2026 at the Suntec City Convention Centre in Singapore. Clips online showed Yee crouching on the ground while another attendee, dressed as Yuji Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen, punched and kicked him in front of shocked eventgoers.
The situation quickly turned viral online, partly because of Amos Yee's controversial past and partly because of how bizarre the scene looked. Many attendees already knew Yee was planning to attend the convention after he posted about it on X a day earlier. Organizers of Doujin Market had also publicly stated that they cancelled his tickets and were working to ban him from future events following concerns raised by attendees. Still, Yee showed up at the venue and was later spotted walking around the event before the confrontation happened.
What happened between Amos Yee and the Yuji Itadori cosplayer outside Doujin Market 2026?
According to people at the event, the incident happened at around 12:30 pm outside the convention hall. Videos shared online showed Amos Yee on the ground while an attendee cosplaying as Yuji Itadori repeatedly hit him. The clips spread fast across X, Instagram, and other social media platforms, with many users reacting to both the violence and the unexpected anime-convention setting.
Before the incident, Yee had been posting photos and comments from the convention on X, talking about the atmosphere and sharing updates from the venue. Despite the organizers saying they had cancelled his access, attendees later spotted him inside the area.
Attacker claims Amos Yee tried to molest another attendee during the event
After the clips went viral, the alleged attacker posted on Instagram Stories explaining why the confrontation happened. According to him, he saw Amos Yee allegedly trying to molest another attendee during the convention. He claimed he tried to stop Yee and get him to leave the area, but things escalated after Yee allegedly attacked him first.
The attacker said he struck back in self-defense. Meanwhile, Amos Yee later posted on X about the altercation and shared a photo showing a bloodied upper lip following the fight.
Police arrest 18-year-old after assault outside Singapore convention
Singapore police later confirmed that an 18-year-old man was arrested for causing public nuisance through assault. Authorities said they received a call for assistance at around 2:15 pm on May 9.
According to police, officers found that a 27-year-old man had been assaulted by the teenager. Amos Yee reportedly sustained minor injuries during the incident. Investigations are still ongoing.
