Kim Clijsters booked her place in the season-ending WTA Championships final on Sunday (09/11), with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 victory over Jennifer Capriati of the United States at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California. Capriati had looked capable of defeating the Belgian after taking the first set and leading 3-2 with a break of serve in the second, but following treatment to a hip injury sustained earlier in the week, the American failed to win another game. Clijsters' compatriot, newly-confirmed world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne, lost to Amelie Mauresmo in the other semi-final. The Frenchwoman taking the match 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-3. The winner of Sunday's final will collect US$1million. (AP)
