WFI picks 21-member squad for Sr. Asian Wrestling Championship
Indian Wrestling Federation (WFI) on Thursday announced a 21-member squad, including seven women grapplers, for the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship to be held at Tashkent from May 19 to 22.

Indian Wrestling Federation (WFI) on Thursday announced a 21-member squad, including seven women grapplers, for the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship to be held at Tashkent from May 19 to 22.
According to the media release, the players were selected on the basis of a trial camp held at National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala and STC Sonepat on April 23 and 24, respectively.
Interestingly, among the women's team three out the seven wrestlers come from the same family in Haryana. Priyanka Singh (48kg), Babita Kumari (51kg) and Geeta (55kg) are three sisters, who will represent the Indian challenge at the event apart from Alka Tomar (59kg), Sakshi Malik (63kg), Navjot Kaur (67kg) and Gursharan preet Kaur (72kg).
In the men's section, Rahul Aware (55kg), Rajneesh (60kg), Parveen Rana (66kg), Deepak (74kg), Naresh Kumar (84kg), Mausam Khatri (96kg) and Naveen Mor (120kg) will represent the Indian team in Free Style category, while the Greco Roman discipline will see Rajender Kumar (55kg), Anil (60kg), Sandeep Yadav (66kg), Rajesh Kumar (74kg), Mahipal Singh (84kg), Amit Kumar (96kg) and Rishi Pal (120kg) in action.
