The forgotten man who beat Milkha Singh
Very few are aware that Arjuna Award winner Makkan Singh beat Flying Sikh Milkha Singh at the 1962 Kolkata National Games. However ever since his death 11 years ago, his family has been struggling to make ends meet. Such is Makkan Singh's family's dire situation, that his wife Salinder Kaur has been forced to put the award on sale. "Selling the award will give my family something. They will be able to eat," she says.
