What do you do after you win a medal at the World Championships? An athlete usually celebrates, talks to the family & takes a couple of days off. But for Amit Kumar & Bajrang, the two Indian Wrestlers who won silver & bronze respectively at the World Championships in Hungary practice was on the agenda after winning the medals.
The duo who spoke to NDTV in an exclusive interview after their return from Budapest said that instead of going out and exploring the European nation, the wrestlers chose to train once again with the likes of Sushil Kumar & Yogeshwar Dutt who were travelling with the team.
Amit also highlighted the advantage of having two Olympic medallist by their side & said "Sushil & Yogeshwar's experience counts a lot, they used to give us tips before every bout about how to tackle our opponents."
On being asked about how much of relief it is for the wrestlers to see their sport return to the Olympic fold, Bajrang said "When there were talks of removing Wrestling from Olympics, we felt that we do not have a target, now that the sport is back in the Olympic fold, we are very happy & have already started our preparations."
Winning a medal in the World Championships is no easy deal, this is for the first time that India has won 2 medals in one edition of the Wrestling World Championship. However, they are not ready to relax, Bajrang said "We have no time to relax, we have resumed our practice already. The 2014 Commonwealth Games are our next target followed by Asian Games & then the 2016 Olympics at Rio."
