Budget 2014: National Academy to Encourage Sports in India
Finance minister Arun Jaitley said that the union government will set up a Sports University apart from upgrading stadiums.

New Delhi:
To encourage sports in India, the government will set up a National Sports Academy, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday.
"The government will set up National Sports Academy for different sports in different parts of India," he said while presenting the national budget in the Lok Sabha.

He said Rs.200 crore will be set aside to upgrade indoor and outdoor stadium in Jammu and Kashmir to international standards.
Jaitley also said that a Sports University will be set up in Manipur. For this, Rs.100 crore will be provided in the current financial year.
