India have drawn a blank in the shooting range so far. In London 2012, India returned two medals (out of a total six). Heena Sidhu's failure in her pet event - the 10m air pistol - has been one of the many disappointments so far for Team India.
Heena finished 14th in the women's 10m air pistol event with a score of 380. The 26-year-old Ludhiana girl, who was ranked world No. 1 in April 2014, had won a World Cup gold in the 10m air pistol event in Germany in 2013.
In London, her maiden Summer Games, Heena Sidhu had finished 12th in the 10m air pistol event. In Rio, a poor start defeated her chances to qualify for the final. Only eight make it to that stage.
Forty shooters will line up for the women's 25m pistol qualifiers. Korean Kim Jangmi, who has the Olympic record of 591 set in London 2012, will also be in action. Bulgaria's Diana Iorgova has the world record of 594 set in Milan in 1994.
Heena has reasonable success in the 25m pistol event. She won a team bronze in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. Catch live shooting scores and updates of her event today in Rio.
