Vijay started of well with scores of 97, 99 and 97 to register a score of 292 in the opening round and was still gunning for a place in the finals.
In the 2nd stage of the qualification round, Vijay once again shot well with scores of 97,99 to look great but slipped in the last series as he dropped 7 points and could only manage to shoot 93, which cost him a slot in the finals by two points.
Vijay's final score was 582, three points less than from his London Olympic qualification score. This is the first international competition after Olympics for the 26-year-old shooter from Indian Army.
The gold in the event was won by Martin Strnad (CZE), silver was won by Christiian Reitz (GER) while bronze was won by Jian Zhang (CHN).
London Olympic gold medallist Leuris Pupo (CUB) finished 9th.
