Sachin, who was nominated to the Upper House earlier this year in what became a hotly debated move, has addressed his letter to both Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal and Sports Minister Ajay Maken. Sent last week, the two-page letter laments the neglect of sports in the country's educational institutions, according to a senior HRD Ministry official.
The cricket legend is clearly taking his role as a lawmaker seriously. He has reportedly said he would like work closely with the government to integrate sports into the education system and his suggestions include a roadmap for a complete overhaul of sports infrastructure at the university and college level.
Sachin suggests that participation in sports must be made compulsory and course curriculum must include more sports related activity.
Kapil Sibal is reportedly excited and has invited the batting ace to make a detailed presentation, after which his suggestion on integration of sports with education will be looked into by NCERT and the CBSE (EXPAND), the official said.
