Tennis ace Sania Mirza has said that while she is excited to play in the London Olympics, she is also ready to play with anyone for the sake of the country.
Speaking to NDTV on the recent controversy of her pairing with Leander Paes or Mahesh Bhupathi for the London Games, Sania said that she has every right to have preferences. "It is an honour to play with both players. (However) I preferred Mahesh Bhupathi because we were playing the year together and that I play forehand side and he plays backhand," she said.
Maintaining that she never said that she will or will not play with a specific player. "My problem was not that I was made to play or (was) asked to play with Leander. My problem was the way I was asked to play with him," she said. "It was never (a) question (about) whether I want to play with someone or not. But I am allowed to have preferences."
Sania however did mention that it is an honour to play with Paes and said that she regards him as a very good player. "Unfortunately I have not spoken to Leander because our schedules at the Wimbledon are completely different.
