About Geeta Phogat

Geeta Phogat shot to limelight after her Gold in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Hailing from Bhiwani in Haryana where sports potential is huge but not many women wrestlers can be seen seen, Geeta Phogat has had to battle past certain widely held norms.

That she became the first Indian woman to qualify for the London Olympics ever has further bolstered her image as a wrestler with immense potential.

Born into a family of wrestlers, Geeta has set an example for her sisters as well who are skilled grapplers. She herself credits her father for her success.

In the London Olympics, she will look to make a solid mark for herself and for her country.
