Medals in hand, Ashton and Theisen Eaton can concentrate on honeymoon now
The couple - both accomplished athletes - did not see Russia as a perfect honeymoon destination. The Moscow world championship medalists can now devote their time to planning a much awaited and well deserved romantic getaway.
Ashton & Brianne Theisen Eaton were perhaps the most famous and the most talented couple in the world of athletics.
Barely a month after their marriage, Ashton Eaton - the 2012 Olympic champion - won the decathlon gold at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow. His Canadian wife Theisen won silver in heptathlon with her American husband supporting her from the stands. This infact was Theisen's 1st medal at a World class event.
"I watched Ashton the last couple of years winning all his medals and could only sit back and imagine what that felt like," said Theisen Eaton. "After the 800 metres he just said to me good job and enjoy your victory lap."
Now with medals in their hands and the championship over, the couple can finally think about their honeymoon.
"We did not think that Russia would be a very good honeymoon, not that the city is not awesome. Our honeymoon will be a mix of adventure and relaxation," said Ashton.
Considering both their disciplines are super hectic, maybe they would do well to focus on just relaxing.
