This would be the third Olympics after qualifying for the Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 extravaganza, for India's top trap shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu. In the 2008 Olympics, Sandhu finished a disappointing 12th.
Once ranked World number 1 in 2006, Manavjit has been there and there abouts always but for the Olympics. He won the gold medal at the 2006 ISSF World Championships. Later he bagged a bronze in the trap event at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
The 1998 Commonwealth Games were "Golden games" for him.
2010 too proved another decent year for Manavjit. First he won the Commonwealth Shooting Championship gold and the following week bagged Gold at the trap shooting World Cup in Mexico.
A consistent performer at the Asian Games since 1998, he has four Silver medals to his credit. Apart from the Asian Games, Asian clay shooting championships too have been fruitful for the lanky shooter.
For his achievements, Sandhu got the Arjuna Award in 1998 while the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award was conferred upon him in 2006.
