About Jayanta Talukdar
Jayanta Talukdar is part of the men's archery team representing India at the London Olympics. This 26-year old archer is the first Indian to win a gold medal at the FITA Meteksan World Cup. He achieved this feat in 2006. Same year he won a gold medal at the South Asian Games and a bronze medal in the team competition at the Asiad.
He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2007.
Interestingly, Talukdar took up the sport at the age of 14 after being inspired by mythological TV serial Mahabharata. In less than a year he was selected at the Tata Archery Academy in Jamshedpur. In 2004, he won a silver medal at the Junior World Championships.
