London 2012 Slalom Canoe: Google Doodle in the water

Google's Doodle for Thursday brings web surfers a taste of the Canoe Sprint event which is taking place in Eton Dorney.

This is the third interactive Doodle here after Hurdles and Basketball and users can test their might against obstacles and the banks to set a fast time.

A part of the Olympics since 1936, canoeing and kayaking have been contested on a 500m course although the ongoing Olympics has a 200m course for men.

Erstwhile Soviet Union had a dominant performance here and bagged 29 Golds followed by Germany with 25 and Hungary with 19. The rest of the list shows European countries at the top while the United States have 5 Golds from a combination of the events, in all editions of the Olympics.
