London 2012: Karmakar advances, Narang out of 50m air rifle prone

While Gagan Narang failed to qualify for the final of the 50m air rifle event, Joydeep Karmakar managed to enter into a 9-way tie at the end of the six series and eventually make a place for himself in the top 8, here on Friday.

While Gagan Narang failed to qualify for the final of the 50m air rifle event, Joydeep Karmakar managed to enter into a 9-way tie at the end of the six series and eventually make a place for himself in the top 8, here on Friday.

Karmakar shot 99-98-100-98-100-100 (595) in the normal course of play. In the shoot-out, the marksman from Kolkata shot 51.6 to find a spot in the final of the event.

Narang on the other hand, managed only 98-100-100-98-97-100 (593).
