"It is sheer inactiveness on the part of the state government as the world cup champion Deepika is the lone sportsperson from Jharkhand representing the country in the Olympics," Balmuchu, who is also the president of East Singhbhum district Olympic Association.
He said words of encouragement enhances the confidence level of sportspersons.
Unlike various state governments including Manipur, which have already announced cash awards for sportsperson of the respective states on winning medal in London games,
Balmuchu regretted that no such announcement was made by the state government.
A newly elected Rajya Sabha member, Balmuchu assured that he would take up the issue with concerned ministry at Centre to ensure due recognition to sportspersons making India proud in the London Olympics.
