India opener and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, who got engaged to sports events manager Ritika Sajdeh on Sunday, said he was delighted with what has been a good week for him personally and his IPL side.
"It has been a good week for the team and on a personal front."
The 28-year-old batsman proposed to 28-year-old Ritika at the Borivali Sports Club in Mumbai. It is the same club where he began his career. On Tuesday, as Rohit-led Mumbai Indians locked horns against Delhi Daredevils, Rohit basked in his glories on and off the field. Struggling to make an impact in the eighth edition and languishing at seventh in the points table, Mumbai defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals in successive matches. A win against Daredevils, Mumbai's forth on-the-trot gave them the fourth spot and a realistic shot at the playoffs. Rohit himself starred with a classy 46.
Rohit, who debuted for India in 2007, failed to consolidate his position in the national team for a long time. However, over the last two years, the stylish Mumbai batsman has become the first batsman in history to slam two double hundreds in ODIs. He also holds the record for the highest individual score in the 50-over format. And when he finally got the chance to make a Test appearance, he smashed hundreds in his first two matches.
Rohit has played 135 one-day internationals and 10 Test matches and has nine international hundreds to his credit. He has scored 343 runs in this IPL season from 10 matches.
