Flights have been diverted and delayed at Melbourne Airport as thunderstorms hit the city.
The good news for cricket fans however is that the storms are expected to ease during the night, ensuring better conditions for the India-Australia Boxing Day Test.
Scattered showers are predicted for Monday morning with a 60% chance of rainfall but that should be the only thing to come in the way of uninterrupted play.
The Herald Sun quoted Melbourne Cricket Club secretary Stephen Gough as saying that the ground would be in perfect condition for the first Test despite Sunday's thunderstorms.
"The torrential downpour that hit Melbourne on Christmas Day won't be a concern," Gough said.
"We have the entire centre wicket square covered, as well as the bowlers' run-up.
"There are no pools of water on the ground because of the excellent drainage.
"And we'll use super soppers if necessary to ensure the ground is in perfect condition for play. Everything is good to go," he said.
A crowd of over 70,000 is expected for the Test as India's 'Big 3' - Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman - play in what should be their last series Down Under.
