In a report published in the Herald Sun, security officials will be out in large numbers to ensure that no ugly incident can take place. Superintendent of police Rod Wilson was quoted as saying that underage drinking and anti-social behavious around the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the team hotel is being especially targetted by his team. "We want people to enjoy themselves at the Test, but warn that police will act quickly if they detect any inappropriate or anti-social behaviour," he said.
Over 70,000 spectators are expected to register their attendance for the opening day of the Boxing Day Test and Wilson said that it is a great tradition that needs to be upheld. "We don't want people drinking to excess and spoiling the day for others."
