Coming into game under immense pressure, Pakistan struggled and the Indian banners and flags were flying high.

The game was one of the most highly-anticipated clashes of the tournament, with passionate fans of teams on either side of the border flocking to the Adelaide Oval.
Zoom
Passionate fans have their own way of showcasing their quirkness. Face paints, hair-dos and creative placards were a common feature all over the stadium.
Zoom
Dhoni was quick to bat first after opting to bat first.
Zoom
India picked two spinners - Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin - and relied on the pacers.
Zoom
Big things were expected from Rohit Sharma but the Mumbai batsman fell early.
Zoom
Out-of-form Shikhar Dhawan took this game as an opportunity to come back to form. After grappling with poor scores, Dhawan broke the shackles to score an important 73.
Zoom
Dhawan cut and pulled his way to a half-century as Paksitan bowlers failed to make in-roads.

At the other end, the Virat Kohli Show began!
Zoom
Kohli and Dhawan added 129 runs for the second wicket.
Zoom
Kohli began to play his shots and was inching towards his 22nd ODI century, to go level with Sourav Ganguly on tally.
Zoom
Kohli also became the first India batsman to score a century against Pakistan in a World Cup match. He beat the previous best of 98, held by Tendulkar.
Zoom
Suresh Raina played a typical consolidating knock in the middle-order, smashing 74 off 56 balls.
Zoom
Dhoni came out and played a few shots as India were looking at a total in excess of 300.
Zoom
For Pakistan, Sohail Khan picked up a five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/55. India finished on 300/7
Zoom
With a good total to defend, India looked electric on the field.
Zoom
India kept chipping away at Pakistan wickets, not allowing their opposition to try and build a partnership in a big chase.
Zoom
Pakistan batsmen came with the 'go hammer and tongs' ploy...
Zoom
...But that didn't work in their favour as India were disciplined in the field.
Zoom
Paksitan's star Umar Akmal was dismissed cheaply.
Zoom
Mohammed Shami starred with the ball for India - finishing with figures of 4/35.
Zoom
India won the tie by 76 runs to kick-start their World Cup campaign in style.
