Fans at the MCG - dominated by the Indian blue - cheered every boundary on the field but their biggest roar was each time Tendulkar appeared on the giant TV screen here.

Wearing a lavender shirt and black sunglasses, the revered superstar waved towards his fans - humble as ever despite the grand reception.

This was the former batsman's first World Cup match from the stands after featuring in six editions of the showpiece event of international cricket.
