Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews has described Lasith Malinga as the team's X-factor despite the presence of other experienced bowlers in the side
Malinga's unique action and the ability to bowl consistent yorkers makes him one of the most dangerous ODI bowlers in the world.
Malinga took four wickets in four balls against South Africa in the 2007 World Cup. The Proteas, who were cruising along at one stage, somehow servived the pacer's blitz to win by one wicket.
Malinga can sometimes be expensive but as 271 wickets from 177 ODIs suggest, he strikes very regularly. To top that, he has seven five-wicket hauls.
Malinga retired from Test cricket to invest all his energy in limited overs cricket. This World Cup will be a major test to that call he made.
