With Paul Van Ass' future as head coach in the dark, Indian hockey has been dealt with another jolt as Jude Felix has quit from his post as assistant coach.
Felix has reportedly stepped away after stating personal reasons for his decision - that he has to look after his ill mother and his academy for underprivileged children. According to reports, former Olympian Tushar Khandekar has joined as the assistant coach in Shilaroo where the team is currently training.
After days of speculation regarding a spat between Van Ass and Hockey India president Narinder Batra during the Hockey World League in Antwerp earlier this year, an eight-member committee of the national hockey federation had a long meeting on Friday and said the Dutch coach was not responding to any communication.
Talking to NDTV, Van Ass questioned Hockey India's decision and demanded a reason for his 'sacking.'
Sources also suggest a disciplinary action is set to be taken against two Indian team players - Gurbaj Singh and Yuvraj Valmiki - regarding a misconduct during the Hockey World League.
