Dipa Karmakar Finishes Fifth in World Gymnastics Championship, Misses Olympics Berth by a Whisker
Dipa Karmakar scored 14.683 to finish fifth in the vaults final at the World Gymnastics Championship. She would have qualified automatically if she would have won a medal. She can still qualify if she gets a wild card

If the 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist would have missed on the podium then she would have automatically qualified for the quadrennial extravaganza.
However, all is not lost as Dipa may be granted a wildcard for Rio by world gymnastics body on the basis of her impressive fifth place finish in Glasgow.
In the vaults final Dipa's total score was 14.683 while the bronze medal winner Simone Biles scored 15.541. The gold medal went to Russia's Maria Paseka (15.666) and the silver to North Korea's Un Jong Hong (15.633).
