Patrick Reed captured his first major title on Sunday, grinding out a one-shot victory at Augusta National.

Bubba Watson had a two-shot lead going into the final round and sailed home to a 6-under 66 for a three-shot victory over second-placed Patrick Reed at the Hero World Challenge.

With six birdies, two bogeys and an eagle, the reigning Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth finished 36 holes on 11-under 133 to join fellow Americans Bill Haas and Jimmy Walker atop the leaderboard in the Hero World Challenge.

Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth were co-leaders after 36 holes. Spieth, who posted a wire-to-wire victory at Augusta in April, is seeking to become the first man to sweep the Masters and US Open since Tiger Woods in 2002.

Holders Europe outscored the US side 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 in afternoon foursomes for the second day in a row, the final blow a six-foot birdie putt by Justin Rose allowing him and Martin Kaymer to halve with unbeaten US rookies Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed.
