Despite a fighting performance, both Sahara Force India drivers failed to find themselves in the top-10 line-up of the British Grand Prix, on Saturday.
While Paul di Resta will start Sunday's race from the 11th position, teammate Nico Hulkenberg secured the 9th position but will begin from the 14th place due to a gear box penalty. "I was actually hoping for a better position in Q3 than P9, especially with the five-place penalty I have for tomorrow," said Hulkneberg after the qualifying session in a rain-hit Silverstone.
Drivers have been struggling to negotiate the wet conditions and di Resta said that anything can happen during the course of the race. "Of course I would like to be starting further towards the front, but we are going into the race with a lot of unknowns in terms of set-up data and tyre performance. Anything is possible in the race and we won't give up."
Silverstone is the home base of the Sahara Force India F1 team. While di Resta is 11th in the driver's standings and has 27 points, Hulkenberg is 14th with 17 points from the season so far.
