According to a list of wealthy sportsmen published in the Sunday Times, seven of the eleven richest sportsmen in Britain are Formula One drivers.

Lewis Hamilton, who saw his coffers increase by 15 million pounds in a year, joined the likes of Eddie Irvine (85 million pounds) and former Scottish racing driver Johnny Dumfries (110 million pounds). Hamilton's value was estimated around 50 million pounds.

It is Wigan chairman Dave Whelan (£190m) and David Beckham (£135m) however who continued to dominate the list. Surprisingly, no woman figured in the list of 100 wealthiest sports-persons which has 51 footballers, 14 golfers and 11 race drivers.
