There is no joy in a comeback. Not if you are Michael Schumacher at least. The 42-year-old German driver admitted after the Turkish Grand Prix that the second season of his comeback is not 'enjoyable.' Reports that he may quit for good at the end of the season, though are rife.
Despite winning a record seven title and 91 grands prix before calling it quits in 2006 only to return in the 2010 season, Schumacher has failed to make a mark, driving now for the Mercedes and finishing 12th in the Turkish Grand Prix.
The 2011 season has begun on a lack-luster note for the German with an early exit from the Australian Grand Prix due to a tyre puncture. Ninth spot at the end of the Malaysian Grand Prix and eighth in China has kept him far from the top of the points table. Even his team-mate in Nico Roseberg has out-qualified him on 19 occasions.
"The big joy is not there right now," he told BBC Sport after the race. The fact that he is finding it extremely difficult to beat a new and much younger generation of talented drivers has had sources close to him reveal that he well quit at the end of the ongoing season.
