McLaren's Lewis Hamilton has said that he wants to continue raking points in for his team, ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix scheduled for this Sunday.
Despite not having won a single race in the ongoing season, Hamilton has said he is happy that he has managed to collect points in each of the five races so far. "I've scored points at every race and I'm only eight points off the lead of the championship. That's really encouraging. It's reassuring to see my approach pay off," he was quoted as saying by BBC on Monday.
Hamilton has backed his words with three pole positions this season but has been unable to claim the winner's spot yet. In Spain, he was penalised for a technical infringement and dumped to the back of the field despite being the fastest in the qualifying session. He managed to still come up and claim the 8th spot. "It's important not to lose sight of the fact that, despite pushing for the win, consistency and scoring decent points is currently the most sensible way to tackle this world championship."
Hamilton is currently placed third in the driver's championship.
