"For now it's total rest," said Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes.
"I know from my own experience (as a player) that if you don't do what's necessary straight away, it takes a long time to heal."
After consultation with Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk, it has also been decided that Robben will not take part in the Oranje's Euro 2012 qualifier in San Marino next week.
Heynckes is hoping that Robben will benefit from the international break and be able to return for Bayern's league game at home to Freiburg on September 10.
Robben, 27, missed the first game of the Bundesliga season due to a foot injury he sustained at the end of July.
After making his return to action he complained of back and groin problems, which ruled him out of the second leg of Bayern's Champions League play-off tie at FC Zurich on Wednesday.
