In a team which boasts of several superstars, all eyes were on the biggest one of them all - Ronaldo - when Real Madrid came out to play Sevilla in Cardiff.

He first scored in the 30th minute and then doubled his team's lead with another strike four minutes into the second half.

All through the World Cup earlier, Ronaldo had looked a bit uncomfortable as he was recovering from a left leg injury. Against Sevilla though, he looked his phenomenal self.

"I didn't feel any pain - I felt pretty good," he said after the match. "I felt happy to help the team win the trophy ... we played better, with more intensity."

Such was the display of football that an enthusiastic fan even managed to invade the pitch to greet his hero.

Victory in the all-Spanish showpiece game captured the first of a possible six trophies for Madrid this season - a task helped by summer additions that ensured the value of the starting lineup at the Cardiff City Stadium exceeded $600 million.
