Sweden experienced the highest of highs with a 5-1 win in their first game against Tunisia, but now they've suffered a similar defeat in their second match against Netherlands. Offensively, Sweden were bright, and should've scored more. But defensively, they were found lacking, getting ripped apart by a clinical Dutch performance.

Netherlands move up to four points in Group F, and that should likely be enough to guarantee them a spot in the knockout stage. While it is mathematically not confirmed yet, Netherlands have given themselves a great chance to not only qualify, but also top their group.

Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk was down for a moment. He gets back up and continues, but looks to be hobbling a bit. He appears to be clutching his thigh. Koeman will hope this is nothing serious.

Taha Ali cuts in and plays it to Alexander Isak, and the latter takes a powerful curling shot at goal. But once again, Bart Verbruggen denies Sweden, making yet another great save and tipping it over for a corner.

85' NED 4-1 SWE

Memphis Depay enters! Netherlands' all-time top-scorer is aiming to become only the third Dutchman to score in three different World Cup editions. Only Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie have done it till date, for Netherlands.

Brian Brobbey goes off. What an impact he made today at the start. Two goals in the opening 17 minutes to set Netherlands rolling.

Anthony Elanga has been really bright since coming on. He dances past a defender on the right wing with a Cruyff turn and nutmeg, sprays in a low cross, but no one's there to meet it. Seconds later, another low cross is fizzed in from the left wing, but no one makes a run into the centre. 

And time for the second hydration break.

GOOOAALLLL! The goals just keep coming! Sweden have one back in the second half, it's substitute Anthony Elanga scoring off the bench. Isak sends Elanga through on goal, and the winger curls it past Verbruggen to open Sweden's account in the game.

GOOOOAAALLL! Cody Gakpo makes it four for Netherlands! The winger, who plays for Liverpool, cuts in from the left wing and coolly slots it past the Swedish goalkeeper. It's a brace in seven minutes in the second half for Gakpo.

54' NED 4-0 SWE

GOOOAAAALLLL! 3-0 Netherlands! The Dutch triple their advantage immediately into the second half. Denzel Dumfries with a well-executed low cross across the face of goal, and Cody Gakpo taps it in at the back post. Just as Sweden were getting into the game, Netherlands have made their job a whole lot harder again.

We are back! The second half kicks off in the match between Netherlands and Sweden in Houston. Sweden are attacking from left to right this time. One change for Netherlands; Crysencio Summerville comes on for Donyell Malen.

It would've been easy to dismiss Sweden and declare Netherlands the winner when Brobbey scored the second goal in the 17th minute. But the last 15-20 minutes of the first half showed that one would be foolish to make that assumption. Sweden ended the first half with nine shots, four more than Netherlands, and they'll feel unlucky to have not broken the deadlock yet.

HALF TIME in Houston! The referee blows the whistle and brings a close to an end-to-end first half. Netherlands came out of the blocks quickly, and Brian Brobbey scored two goals in the opening 17 minutes. But Sweden grew in momentum after the hydration break. Viktor Gyokeres was denied many times by Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen. Sweden defender Gustaf Lagerbielke scored a goal, but it was disallowed for offsidwe.

Sweden with another attack, but an outstretched Bart Verbruggen denies them again! Yasin Ayari takes a brilliant low shot from the edge of the box, angling towards the bottom-left corner, but Verbruggen makes another superb save. He has kept Sweden's score to nil single-handedly in the last few minutes.

Free-kick in a dangerous position for Sweden on the edge of the Netherlands box, as we head into added time at the end of the first half.

Gyokeres takes it... and it's saved! A curling strike around the wall by the Arsenal man, Verbruggen is quick to react and parry it away.

Sweden thought they'd found a goal back as centre-back Gustaf Lagerbielke headed home from a free-kick. However, the celebrations are cut short as the referee rules it out for offside. There's a VAR check, which confirms the offside decision.

The chances are increasing for Sweden! Ayari finds Isak, who lays it through for Gyokeres again. Gyokeres slams a firm strike towards the top corner, but it's saved by Netherlands goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

Once again, Isak and Gyokeres combining to create a chance for Sweden. Isak sends Gyokeres through, and the latter brings it into control well, but the final finish lacks power. But Sweden getting into the groove after the hydration break.

First good attack by Sweden! Alexander Isak plays it to Viktor Gyokeres on the left wing, and the Arsenal man then delivers a terrific cross into the box where Yasin Ayari was making a superb run. Unfortunately for Sweden, Ayari tries to take it on the chest instead of heading it, and the touch is a heavy one.

Time for the hydration break in the first half. It's a much-needed break for Sweden. Netherlands have been all over them so far, and more importantly, the Dutch have been clinical. Two shots, two goals for 24-year-old Brian Brobbey, who plays his club football for Sunderland in the Premier League.

GOOOAAALLL! Brian Brobbey strikes again! Denzel Dumfries with an excellent cross from the right flank, and it's toe-poked into the net by Brobbey into the bottom-right corner of the net. What a start by Netherlands, they've scored two goals in 17 minutes!

Tijjani Reijnders accelerates into the Sweden box after a lovely turn in the midfield, and then goes for a shot, which is blocked by the Swedish defence. Netherlands look by far the more dangerous team in the final third, and they've already given Sweden a few nervous moments.

GOOOAAAALLLL! Brian Brobbey opens the scoring for Netherlands! Lovely passing in the midfield and then Gakpo is sent through on the left wing. Sweden don't track back well enough, Brian Brobbey breaks in front of the defence and taps in the goal! It's a goal inside five minutes for the Dutch.

WE ARE LIVE! Netherlands get us underway in Houston, they're attacking from left to right. Netherlands in their typically bright orange. Sweden are not in yellow, but in their blue away jersey.

The strikers in today's match will be in big focus. Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres hold the key to Sweden's chances. On the other hand, Brian Brobbey and Donyell Malen make a threatening combination of power and pace in the Netherlands attack.

We are less than half an hour away from kick off in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group F match between Netherlands and Sweden. A game of goals could be on the cards, given that the opening games of these two teams witnessed a combined 10 goals!

Sweden entered the World Cup not in the best of form, losing to Norway and Greece in the pre-tournament friendlies and finishing last in their qualifying group. They qualified for the World Cup only thanks to their UEFA Nations League performance. However, they've made a cracking start come the big stage.

Gyokeres and Isak both scored in the opening game against Tunisia, while Yasin Ayari was the dynamite in the Swedish midfield, scoring two goals. Graham Potter's 3-4-1-2 formation worked a treat, as Sweden put in one of the most dominant displays of the World Cup so far.

Netherlands were surprised by Japan twice during their opening FIFA World Cup Group F game. Netherlands went up 1-0, and then 2-1, but both times Japan found a way back to grab a point from the game. The Oranje are likely to go for a more direct approach today, with Brobbey starting up top, and the pace of Malen and Gakpo on the wings.

For Sweden, a victory, and possibly even a draw, would guarantee qualification to the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026. They are in a very strong position after the superb 5-1 win over Tunisia. 

However, Netherlands are hunting for a win. They gave up the lead twice in a 2-2 draw against Japan, and will not want to risk dropping points yet again.

Crysencio Summerville, who scored a brilliant goal, has been benched. Manager Ronald Koeman has instead gone for powerhouse striker Brian Brobbey, meaning Donyell Malen will likely be on the right-wing.
