30' GOAL! Ivory Coast take a shock lead in Toronto! Diomande picks out Amad in the centre, but his initial strike is brilliantly blocked from point-blank range by Nathaniel Brown. However, the ball breaks perfectly for Franck Kessié at the back post, and the captain rifles it into the back of the net to break the deadlock! 1-0 to Les Elephants!

21' Kimmich once again curls a dangerous ball in from the corner. Fofana spills it into his own net after colliding with Pavlović, but the goal is instantly ruled out! Pavlović can't believe it and is having an animated chat with the referee. However, it remains 0-0 due to a foul by the German midfielder. Ivory Coast survive a massive scare!

17' Musiala plays a crisp give-and-go with his Bayern Munich teammate Pavlovic. He takes a deft touch to open up space on his right foot, but his flashing effort flies just wide of the target. Big chance!

13' Konan swings one in after a great overlapping run. It somehow finds his fellow full-back Singo across the box, but his powerful shot is quickly blocked. Ivory Coast enjoying a decent spell of possession here.

"We're not coming to watch the Germans play. We're coming to beat them, we're coming to get that qualification for the second round," Fae said.

"But above all, we want to go home after the game tomorrow to our base camp in Philadelphia not only with our six points, but also the certainty that we'll finish top of the pack."

A special day for Jonathan Tah! He is set to start for Germany against the country of his father's birth.

"This is going to be something special, that is true, to play against ‌the [Ivory Coast] team," Tah said.

"Of course, I'm excited about the [opportunity], and it's definitely going to be more extraordinary than against any other team."
