Manchester United's Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea is negotiating to extend his contract with the English side, his agent said on Monday, after rumours the player could join Real Madrid.
"I am currently negotiating an extension with Manchester United for the 24-year-old keeper", said the agent, Jorge Mendes.
"We have not yet signed anything but we are in talks," he told Spanish radio station Cadena SER, when questioned about press reports of a possible move to Real."
Spain international De Gea joined United in 2011 and has yet to accept the new contract offered by the club to replace his current deal which expires in 2016.
He must now compete with another Spaniard, former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes, who joined him as second-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford last month on an 18-month contract.
