There were plenty of chances but no goals as West Ham and Man United drew 0-0 at the London Stadium. Marko Arnautovic threatened throughout for the hosts, testing David de Gea from 18 yards, heading over the crossbar from close range in the first half and volleying just wide in the second. United enjoyed one particular purple patch midway through the first half; Scott McTominay shot just wide, Jesse Lingard saw an excellent shot well saved by Adrian, and Luke Shaw hit a rebound against the post after Adrian had saved from Alexis Sanchez. Lingard saw several more shots saved as the game wore on, while Angelo Ogbonna had to head a Sanchez effort off the line. In the end it was a fair result for two teams playing with little to lose.
