FINAL ANALYSIS
Stoke City still had a small glimmer of hope when the second half began as they truly appeared to have been stuck in against the impending Premier League Champions, however a demoralizing early goal sucked all of the life out of this contest. City's dominance was never really in question throughout the final 45 minutes as the Potters seemingly accepted their fate. Stoke could have elevated themselves out of the basement with just a point, but now they sit squarely rooted in the Premier League cellar with a total of 27 points through Matchweek 30.

FINAL
This one is over! Manchester City take the points with a 2-0 victory and are now only two wins away from clinching the league!
90'
GAME OVER
The life has been absolutely choked out of this game during the last 10 minutes of play. It seems like an eternity since the ball has not been on the foot of a City player. Stoke have clearly accepted the fate of a 2-0 loss at home.
90'
GUARDIOLA INTO THE BARRICADES
A ball near the sideline is sent out of play and nearly hits Pep Guardiola. Guardiola, still a sprightly man, athletically avoids the ball but instead clatters into a set of barricades near the coaching area. The City manager attempts to quickly regain his composure, stand up the pole, but all is caught by the cameras.
85'
CITY CHANGE
Bernardo Silva comes on for Raheem Sterling in the 85th minute to a chorus of boos. The home supporters are clearly not happy with his unsporting move of stealing a drop ball following an injury break.
82'
SILVA MISSES HATTY
David Silva receives the ball in the area, turns, and seeks his hat trick! The following shot is labeled for the far top corner, however the strike has absolutely no bend to it causing the ball to fly out of bounds as straight as an arrow. If there was just a small amount of curl on that effort Silva would have likely had his third goal of the night.
78'
CITY MISSED CHANCE
Manchester City should be up 3-0! A drop ball taken by Stoke is immediately stolen by the Citizens in what became a two on zero rush! A charging Jack Butland and retreating Papa Alioune N'Diaye somehow manage to block off the run of Raheem Sterling who was being quite selfish as he had Gabriel Jesus to his left.
76'
COLLISION
We are currently in a delay due to injuries sustained by Nicolas Otamendi and Konstantinos Stafylidis after a collision in the area. Stafylidis appears to be well enough to continue, but the head injury sustained by Otamendi may force Pep Guardiola to remove him from the match.
73'
WALKER
An advantage is played that allows City to thunder upfield that ends with Kevin De Bruyne threading a short pass into the area for a sprinting Kyle Walker! Walker takes a shot with his first touch, however the attempt is overpowered and flies both high and wide of its intended target.
8'
POTTERS COUNTER
Jese and Xherdan Shaqiri are beginning to pose a threat to the Manchester City backline on the counter attack. For the second time in as many minutes the Potters clearly had the visitors on the run in rapidly building attacks that start within their own half.
71'
ATMOSPHERE
The atmosphere in Stoke-on-Trent has clearly changed throughout the course of this second half. A period that began with boisterous cheers from the home supporters is now almost entirely dominated by chants from the away end of the stadium.
64'
MARTINS INDI MISS
The ensuing free kick sails to the far post where it is headed back across the face of goal only to be sent back to the far post once again! The City defense are almost caught ball chasing when it falls to an open Bruno Martins Indi inside the six yard box, however Martins Indi's volley is taken extremely off balance instead of cutting the lead in half he sails his shot over the cross bar.
63'
CROUCHINHO
Jese wins a free kick near the edge of the area and is immediately taken off for the lanky Peter Crouch. The 37 year old striker will no doubt be the target man for this set piece.
43'
CHIPPY
The action is starting to get quite chippy after several rough take downs occurred in the midfield, each committed by Stoke City players, during a quickly building City attack. De Bruyne, who was one of the players tackled, then got into a shoulder barging contest with Moritz Bauer down the left wing, however Jon Moss allows play to continue on.
40'
FERNANDINHO DENIED
A methodic build up from City leads to David Silva waltzing his way into the area. The Spaniard is quickly closed down, but is able to locate a lurking Fernandinho outside the box. Fernandinho gathers possession and bends a shot to the far post that forces Jack Butland to make a fantastic diving save to deny Manchester City of their second goal.
37'
EDERSON PUNCH
A ball played over the top nearly catches the City defense sleeping! Jese attempted to charge the ball down, however Kyle Walker intervened with a flying kick that sent the ball looping into the night sky. The attempted clearance nearly found the back of the net for a Walker own goal if it wasn't for a last ditch leaping punch performed by Ederson.
33'
DE BRUYNE FREE KICK
Kevin De Bruyne flashes a cross off of a free kick across the face of goal that could have easily been put in by several Manchester City players, but the ball instead bounces out for a goal kick. A confused De Bruyne looks into the area at his teammates and wonders how no one was able put their side up by two goals.
31'
JESE
A nice chipped pass by Xherdan Shaqiri links up perfectly with the charging run of Jese that leads him into the area. Jese is unable to get a shot off and instead attempts to perform an off balanced cross, however it is completely miss hit and flies out for a goal kick.
29'
PUSHING
Oleksandr Zinchenko and Xherdan Shaqiri are currently being talked to by Jon Moss after a scuffle along the touch line. The argument occurred after Zinchenko interfered with Shaqiri as he tried to take a quick throw in to maintain the odd man rush that the Potters had going.
26'
FERNANDINHO MISS
A Kevin De Bruyne cross flies untouched through the area until it is ultimately cleared beyond the far post, however the clearance is directed right to an open Fernandinho. The lurking Brazilian lined up a left footed shot and rifled one toward goal, but with far too much power as he misses above the crossbar and to the left.
21'
TURNOVER
Xherdan Shaqiri almost helps the Potters capitalize on a poor turnover by Oleksandr Zinchenko! Shaqiri executed a skillful run into the area, roaring by Zinchenko, and dished off a square ball to the top of the box. The awaiting Papa N'Diaye then hammered a bending shot that took a slight deflection that sent it just wide of the far post.
19'
SANE UPSET
Leroy Sane is less than impressed with his teammates at the moment. Several passes sprayed out to him on the left flank from the midfield have been slightly miss hit causing the German to exhaust himself tracking them down or have been completely misguided. Sane's displeasure is notable.
14'
STERLING RUN
A lofted ball from the Manchester City defense is knocked down into the path of Raheem Sterling who blazes into the area dragging defenders. Sterling nearly shakes the both off, however a questionable challenge throws him off balance and causes the ball to roll out for a goal kick, much to the protestation of the City winger.
11'
SILVA
An incredible series of passes that began in the midfield sprung the speedy Raheem Sterling down the right wing. Sterling then picked out his pass and led the Spaniard perfectly with a low cross. Silva took his left footed shot in stride and deposited it home to the left of a diving Jack Butland. City are on top 1-0!
10'
GOAL!
David Silva finds the back of the net in the 10th minute to put City on top 1-0!
2'
PRESSING UP
Manchester City are already pressing high up the field and retaining possession well within the Stoke City half. It seems as if Pep Guardiola wishes to break the spirit of the Potters and the crowd at the bet365 Stadium early tonight.
60'
SANE
City continue to threaten Jack Butland and the Stoke City defense! This time it is a long distance strike from Leroy Sane that almost finds the back of the net. The effort was struck with real pace and movement, however the attempt never truly had enough bend to bring it back on target.
58'
PATIENCE
Raheem Sterling displays exempliary patience as he slaloms into the box and nearly dekes Jack Butland with several cross overs and head fakes. Butland stands his ground, though, and blocks a shot at point blank range.
56'
BLUTLAND BLOCK
Virtually the entire City team joins a counter attack that ultimately leads to Fernandinho, of all players, reaching the end line and attempting to flick a cross into the center of the box. Butland, however, is in position and blocks the cross to keep the score at 2-0 for the moment.
51'
SILVA
David Silva has secured his brace! City are up 2-0!
6'
FREE KICK
Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus work together to create a beautiful string of passes just outside the area, however control eludes the Belgian near the edge of the box. Tonight's referee Jon Moss blows his whistle, though, as he played an advantage following a rough tackle by Papa Alioune N'Diaye on Fernandinho.
51'
SILVA GOAL
City have scored yet another brilliant goal! Another series of short passes ends in a give and go worked between Gabriel Jesus and David Silva. Jesus then lobbed a picture perfect pass over top of the stagnant defense and into the run of the charging Spaniard. A charging Jack Butland nearly blocks the karate kicked shot, however the ball flies over him and into the net. City are now in complete control with a two goal lead in the second half!
1'
KICK
We are underway in Stoke! The home team attack from left to right and wear their standard red and white striped kits, while Manchester City are dressed in their all black third kits.

FIRST MATCHUP RECAP
The first time these two teams met this season resulted in a wild affair at the Etihad Stadium in mid-October. City jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but a Mame Biram Diouf goal late in the first half cut the lead in down and a Kyle Walker own goal a few moments into the second period drew the visitors within striking distance. It was at this point that the Citizens clicked into overdrive and pumped in four goals over the span of twenty five minutes to take the three points with a convincing 7-2 victory.

CITY
The biggest news leading into City's match on Monday night is assuredly the knee injury sustained by Sergio Aguero in training this weekend. The striker is expected to miss approximately two weeks which may sound terrible, however Manchester City are only scheduled to play one more match in the month of March. City have nine games remaining, but could be crowned champions after just three matches due to their nearly insurmountable lead. This goes without saying that City enter tonight's match after experiencing just their fourth loss of the season, as well as their first defeat at the Etihad all year. Luckily, the loss to Basel in Champions League play last week was inconsequential because City piled on four away goals in the first leg.

STOKE
Stoke City still sit squarely in the relegation conversation as they currently are placed 19th in the league table. The year of 2018 began fairly poorly for the Potters when they lost their first two Premier League clashes against Newcastle and Manchester United and were eliminated from the FA Cup by Coventry City. Since then, though, Stoke City have found better, yet not great, form. In their last six matches Stoke have earned at least a point in five, but in that span they have only claimed all three points on one occasion. In a fight to avoid relegation every point matters, but Stoke's chances of staying up is coming into serious doubt especially with matches against Everton, Arsenal, and Tottenham following tonight's fixture with Manchester City.

WELCOME

Kickoff is just around the corner so let's take a look at these two club's recent form and this evening's starting lineups.
47'
FERNANDINHO LONG BALL
Fernandinho attempts an incisive long ball from the center of the midfield attempting to find a streaking Raheem Sterling down the right wing, however the pass takes an unfortunate skid off the grass and rolls out harmelessly for a goal kick.

SECOND HALF
The second half is underway at the bet365 Stadium! The teams have switched ends and it will now be City that attack from left to right. There were no changes made at the half to take note of as all 22 starters remain in the game for the time being.

STOKE LUCKY?
Stoke City will likely feel grateful to only be down by a goal at halftime, yet they must find a way to steal at least a point from this match against the Premier League leaders. The Potters had a few chances, but in all their attack seemed lifeless throughout the opening 45 minutes. There was not much that the Stoke City defense could have done to prevent City's lone goal of the half, though. The Citizens combined for a world class sequence of passes that perfectly exploited small gaps within the Stoke back line.

HALF
Halftime in Stoke! We head to the break with Manchester City up by the score of 1-0 on Stoke City!
45'
SHAQIRI CROSS
An inswinging cross from Xherdan Shaqiri from the right wing will surely be the last action of the first half. The cross sought to pick out the large Jese in the middle, but instead it sailed far too high and long to place the City defense in any danger.
