With around three minutes and change remaining, this game, having looked completely over as a contest, now looks as though it could go either way. Newcastle have defended superbly all game, but Leicester have stuck at it and got their reward.

HAYDEN ON
Mo Diame goes off and Isaac Hayden replaces him in the Newcastle engine room. The away fans are doing all the singing at the moment and that is hardly surprising given that their side have been so good here today.

80'
HEADER WIDE
Wes Morgan leaps and heads goalwards but he can't direct it on target and Newcastle escape.
78'
GOAL
That goal was an utter disaster from a Leicester point of view. A long, hoofed clearance from Florian Lejeune was simply not dealt with by either Harry Maguire or Wes Morgan, who both looked to each other to deal with it. Ayoze Perez leapt at the chance and scooped a lovely shot over the onrushing Schmeichel and Newcastle go 2-0 up.
There is some concern for Newcastle now as Deandre Yedlin goes down and stays down. He is receiving treatment on the field at the moment.
71'
WORK RATE
Dwight Gayle has put in another shift up front for Newcastle here. Joselu comes on to replace him and he will be similarly tasked with keeping up that work rate.
Within around 30 seconds, Newcastle make five crunching challenges in a row and win all of them. Christian Atsu tries to get in on the action and mistimes his slightly, resulting in a free-kick for Leicester. That was super stuff from Newcastle, full-blooded but fair challenges reminiscent of the 80's but with more hair gel and silly coloured boots.
64'
Substitution
Christian Atsu (on). Kenedy (off). (Newcastle United)
64'
ATSU ON
Leicester are growing into the game somewhat with an hour gone, although Newcastle look dangerous on the counter. Kenedy goes off to be replaced by Atsu in the hopes of refreshing that attack.

SLIP
Newcastle rush forward but Ayoze Perez loses his footing and subsequently the ball.
90'
GAME OVER
The final whistle goes and it's Newcastle who take the three points. They will return to the north east feeling much happier about their position in the league, with 38 points in the bag, and it looks for all the world as though their Premier League status is now secure. Thanks for joining us.
90'
ALL FOXES
It's all Leicester now, understandably so. A looping cross into the Newcastle box looks dangerous but Dubravka claims confidently to relieve some pressure, momentarily at least.

54'
KENEDY
Kenedy is causing all kinds of problems for Leicester at the moment with his direct running.
53'
RESOLUTE
Newcastle are defending resolutely here, something they could rarely have been accused of in the last decade or so. Defending starts from the front, and in trying to do his part, Dwight Gayle mistimes a challenge on Choudhury and picks up a booking.
52'

43'
IN BEHIND
Jamie Vardy finally manages to get in behind the Newcastle defence and squares the ball but none of his team mates were able to get up in support and Lascelles is able to clear.

Substitution
Hamza Choudhury (on). Vicente Iborra (off). (Leicester City)
41'
IBORRA INJURED
We have a break in play now as Vicente Iborra goes down and he looks as though he may not be able to continue. Hamza Choudhury is readying himself for his third appearance of the season.
38'
DIVE
A wonderful ball from Adrien Silva sets Mahrez clear - Dummett comes across to challenge and seems to just about get a toe to the ball as Mahrez flings himself to the floor. The referee is not impressed and after viewing replays it looks as though he made the right call, and it wasn't an easy one to make.
35'
FRUSTRATION
The frustration is building as the game goes on, Leciester's fans aren't at all impressed with their side's showing so far.
30'
PENALTY SHOUT
Leicester have a penalty shout turned away after Diame appears to foul Jamie Vardy following a corner. Nothing doing however as the referee waves away the protests.
26'
ONE ALL DRAWS
With 25 minutes gone it is the resurgent Newcastle who have the upper hand here. Leicester's last three home games have ended in 1-1 draws though, and you wouldn't bet against that happening again here.
22'
BOOKINGS
Harry Maguire goes into the book after an ugly confrontation with Dwight Gayle. The Newcastle players surround the referee, baying for a sending-off and Jamal Lascelles also finds himself with a caution for his involvement.
21'

4'
GOOD START
Newcastle win a couple of early corners and the second of them results in a smart save by Kasper Schmeichel from an Ayoze Perez flick-on. It's a good start by the away side here.
21'
Yellow Card
Harry Maguire (Leicester City)
20'
SHELVEY
A superb counter-attack by Newcastle gives them the lead! Ayoze Perez carries the ball from inside his own half before cutting back and laying it off for Shelvey on the edge of the box. The midfielder feints to shoot, throwing the Leicester defenders off balance before tucking the ball low into the bottom right corner. What a goal and what a start for the away side!
19'
GOOOAAALLL!!!
Jonjo Shelvey gives Newcastle the lead!
18'
Goal
Jonjo Shelvey. Assist by Ayoze Perez (Newcastle United)
18'
OFFSIDE
Ayoze Perez looks to play Dwight Gayle in behind but the centre-forward moves too quickly and the offside flag is raised.
2'
MO DIAMOND
Newcastle's number 10 commits a foul in the first minute. The difference between the Mo Diame of last season and this is remarkable, he has been superb for the black and whites this year.
49'
WIDE
Gayle hits the free-kick with some finesse but it's not enough to trouble Schmeichel and the Leciester keeper watches as the ball drops wide.
48'
FREE-KICK
Kenedy drives towards the box and is brought down by Choudhury. Newcastle have a free-kick in a dangerous area.
46'
UNDERWAY
We're underway once more - stay with us for the second half at the King Power Stadium.
45'
SWEEPER KEEPER
A lofted ball over the top almost finds Dwight Gayle but Schmeichel is already in position 25 yards from his goal and heads clear. Top sweeper-keeper action from the stopper there.
45'
HALF-TIME
The half-time whistle goes and at the break, Jonjo Shelvey's strike is the difference between the sides.
15'
WIDE
Leicester win themselves a corner and they have some giants in the box, Wes Morgan and Harry Maguire in particular. The initial centre is cleared but the ball comes back into the box and Morgan meets it but he can only steer his header wide.
1'
UNDERWAY
We're underway in this one. Neither side have a great deal to worry about in terms of league placement, although Newcastle are still looking over their shoulder with their Premier League status not yet mathematically secured. Leicester are sitting pretty in 8th place and have no such worries.
