The celebrations continue both on the pitch and off it. And no wonder after a well deserved win over a poor Manchester United side. It means that Brighton will be a Premiership team next season after that Pascal Gross goal which cleared the line by 2.83 centimeters. A game of fine margins indeed.

Craig Pawson blows his whistle and Brighton have a famous victory. They will be in the Premier League next season, and well deserved on tonights performance. For me the man of the match has to be Antony Knockaert.

A cross from Young is met by Martial, but his header isn't going to trouble anyone. Murray goes off as Ulloa comes oin. Last minute of stoppage time.

We are into four minutes of stoppage time and the pressure on the Brighton goal is relentless.

By thunder that was close. Uniteds' best move of the game as Lingard plays a 1:2 with Rashford into the area. From 12 yards and looking likely to score Lingard skews it wide under pressure from Bruno. From the replay I'm not sure United didn't have a good shout for a penalty there.. Izquierdo comes off replaced by Solly March.

It is a vociferous crowd packed into the Amex tonight. United have started the better, but a good spell of Brighton pressure has just ended with blocked shots from Knockaert, a half chance for Murray and finally a low drive from Stephens going not far wide. It has been a good start to the game.

Another long shot from Pogba, about 30 yards out, but again well over. Beram Kayal has come on for Pascal Gross whose goal incidentally was just under 3 centimetres over the line, about an inch and a half roughly. Brighton are defending deep now trying to hold on to the precious points which will ensure PL football next year.
United are getting closer though. Rashford chases an impossible ball down the right and keeps it in for Mata. His cross is taken on the chest by Lingard but the following volley is well over. Ten minutes to go in this one.

This time Pogba chances his arm from distance but it's a weak effort which dribbles wide.

There is no doubt that Brighton deserve their lead, but United are having all the possession at the moment. Lingard has another pot at goal from distance which goes over. McTominay comes on for Rojo. United have 15 minutes to save this one.

BRIGHTON 1 - 0 MAN. UTD.
Well it's a lot better from United as they have Brighton penned in their own half. In which time Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have edge of the area shots saved well by Mat Ryan. It looks like McTominay is coming on as Uniteds' final substitution.
69'
BRIGHTON 1 - 0 MAN. UTD
It's a double substitution by Mourinho. Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard come on for Darmian and Fellaini. Will this improve what has been a very substandard United performance so far.
Pascal Gross gets a yellow for bringing down Mata right on the edge of the area. He himself takes it but it's well clear of the bar.

Knockaert has been fantastic tonight and he gets the crowd roaring again with a run right at the defence. It ends in a corner from which Izquierdo eventually gets a chance on the left side but his shot goes a yard wide.

BRIGHTON 1 - 0 MAN. UTD
That goal has really got the crowd going and United are trying to respond. I'm pretty sure that without the technology that goal would not have been given it was so close.

BRIGHTON 1 - 0 MAN. UTD.
It's one given by goal line technology. A lovely move as Gross sends Izquierdo down the left. He eventually gets to the by-line and gets his cross in. Gross is in the middle and heads towards goal. Rojo looks to have ckleared valiantly off the line but the referee gets the signal from his watch. It was about 2 inches clear over that.

Manchester United are playing keep ball as much as possible at the start of this half. Brighton when they get possession are going for it. Once again Knockaert picks up deep and runs right at the heart of United's defence. His shot fronm the edge of the area is deflected for a corner which is cleared by the United ranks.

Good save from Mat Ryan, his first of the game. It comes from Paul Pogba from just inside the area after a period of better football from the Reds around the Brighton area.

It's a yellow card immediately for Glen Murray who scythes down Fellaini with a crude challenge.

We were close to an opening goal there. Manchester United playing confidentally get a free kick left edge of the area. Rashford delivers a telling ball in which Fellaini stabs beyond Ryan. The linesman calls offside though, and correctly so.

BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD
Brighton get us back underway for the second hals. No changes at half time, although Marcus Rashfords' ears are lokking decidely crispy with a whisp or two of smoke spiralling from them, or is that my imagination.

Well it was a bright start by the visitors wiith sharp passing and the ball in the net within minutes. That was rightly disallowed for offside against Marouane Fellaini and heralded the last of Uniteds' efforts in an offensive sense for the remainder of the half. Credit goes to Brighton though who have dominated the half with lively football. David de Gea has made two or three important saves, particularly two rasping efforts first from Mrray then from Izquierdo. Chris Hughton will be as happy as Mourinho is not at half time, but will the Seagulls rue not making the most of their dominance in the second half. Join me for full commentary of the second period coming up.

One minute of time added on played and Craig Pawson concludes the first half proceedings. Mourinho goes in looking angry, don't blame him frankly they have been poor.

BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
A minute or so of sustained pressure from the visitors at last. It doesn't come to anything but they get two corners chalked up on the stats. At the moment Bong is receiving lengthy treatment but looks okay to continue. Almost half time here.

BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
With six changes to the side United are well out of sorts this evening. There is very little intensity and their passing is sloppy. In all honesty Brighton should be winning this.

BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
Actually that incident aside, Rashford has had a poor half as have most of the United players. Knockaert again causes trouble down the right and gets Gross in with a lovely ball. De Gea is out to smother for another Brighton corner.

BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
Judging by the look on Joses' chivvy I would not want to be in Rashfords' boots come half time. I don't think he'll forget by then.

BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
Another fine save by de Gea this time from a rasping shot by Izquierdo. from the corner Glen Murray is first to the ball but his header shoots across the area and wide.
29'
BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
That is poor from Rashford. Dunk in the left back position slips and Rashford is in. Martial is in the center and all it needs is the pass from Rashford. But he hesitates, trying to score himdself I think. All he gets is a corner which is cleared.
26'
BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
First real attack from United since the opening min utes. A Pogba cross is headed out which falls nicely for Rasford to volley. It's going with pace and knocks Dunk clean off his feet. The ball is cleared though.
23'
BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
He might be a bit more concerned now. Glen Murray takes the ball out of the air superbly some 22 yards out, turns and smites a tremendous shot all in one movement. It's heading for the top corner but David de Gea pulls out a fantastic save turning behind for a corner. Good football.
20'
BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
Knockaert has started well and continues to cause problems down the right hand side. Meantime Jose Mourinho is having a seemingly affable chinwag with the fourth officiall completely unconcerned.

BRIGHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
It's a fast pace to this game and the home side are forcing it. United are finding it difficult to get upfield and haven't been near the Brighton area since that Fellaini offside goal.

BRIHTON 0 - 0 MAN. UTD.
Brighton are dominating proceedings. Good work on the left wing by Izquierdo, he cuts inside Smalling and sets uo Pascal Gross on the edge of the area. His low drive is straight at de Gea who saves comfortably.

Brighton continue to take the game to their illustrious opponents. Antony Knockaert goes on a mazy cross field run and eventually feeds Izquierdo inside the United area. His snap shot is well blocked byDarmian.

BRIGHTON v MANCHESTER UNITED
As the season comes to the final week or so of PL fixtures, both of tonights' teams will be relatively happy with where they sit, but having just a few niggling doubts to iron out. Hosts Brighton are not yet clear of the relegation trap door. True they are five points clear of Southampton in 18th with three to play, but....But their run-in against the countries top three, finishing at the Etihad and Anfield next week, is daunting. Seagulls fans will be hoping that they already have enough points, and that may well have to be the case having captured a mere three drawn points from their last seven matches. If ever a team look like they may have just inched over the line, Brighton is that team. At the other end of the table Manchester United, with their victory over Arsenal last week, have qualified for Champions League football next season. But they have something to play for. They will want to finish as the seasons' Runners-Up and carry a winning momentum forward to their Cup Final with Chelsea later this month. They are five points clear of Liverpool in third place and a win tonight will see off the Merseyside challenge, leaving only Tottenham with an outside chance of catching them.
