Adios
That's all we have from this entertaining encounter. On Sunday, in the last game of Matchweek 4, Jamshedpur FC will be crossing swords against NorthEast United FC. Do join us at 7:30 pm IST for all the action. Cheers!
Awards
ATK Mohun Bagan receive the Club Award for winning the Kolkata Derby and bagging their second win of the season. Hugo Boumous is chosen for the Hero of the Match Award for scoring the opening goal and impressing one and all with quality football.
Domination continues!
ATKMB have bagged the bragging rights in the Kolkata Derby yet again with a fantastic 2-0 victory. This is their fifth straight Derby win over their rivals in the Hero Indian Super League and this will sting a lot to the EBFC fans. ATKMB started the game on the front foot and pressured EBFC, but initially, they were not able to break their defense. The first half was quite even, with both teams getting good opportunities but they couldn't capitalise. However, Vishal Kaith made two good saves to keep it all square at the break. Once again, it was ATKMB who took the game to EBFC in the second segment, and ultimately, Hugo Boumous broke the deadlock with a fine shot from outside the box where Kamaljit Singh could have done better. After the first goal went in, the EBFC players lost confidence and let ATKMB call the shots. It was not long after that as Manvir Singh scored the second goal and sealed the game in their favour. EBFC tried their best and had a couple of shots at goal, but Kaith stood tall and did not let anything in. So, the first round of the Kolkata Derby goes to ATK Mohun Bagan, and one half of Kolkata will be ecstatic while the other will wait for round two to avenge this loss.

GOOOAALLL!
ATKMB make it 2-0! The red and maroon flags are flying high in the stadium. The attack was once again started by Hugo Boumous who plays a through ball inside the box towards Dimitri Petratos. He takes a shot, but it deflects to the right where Manvir Singh shoots and it takes a deflection off Jerry Lalrinzuala to go inside the net. The crowd is going bonkers, ATKMB are smelling yet another win in the Kolkata Derby.

Another attack
Lalchungnunga does well there! Dimitri Petratos collects the header from the middle and tries to set Liston Colaco free. Lalchungnunga though is alert and kicks it away before it could go in a dangerous area.
56'
GOOOAAALLLL
ATKMB take the lead in the Kolkata Derby! Hugo Boumous, you beauty! He has sent the crowd into a frenzy. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Kamaljit Singh could have done better there but that was a shot packed with plenty of power and venom. Hugo Boumous picks up the ball in the middle and runs away from Charis Kyriakou who puts in a lazy effort to mark him. Boumous pulls the trigger from 25 yards out and bludgeons it towards the goalkeeper. It's swerving and brushes Kamaljit Singh's hands before finding the back of the net.

What a save!
Brendan Hamill to the rescue! Naorem Singh shows his class from the left side by serving a superb ball inside the box. It flies over the defense of ATKMB and is almost certain to find the run of Thongkhosiem Haokip but Brendan Hamill stretches his leg and makes a decisive interception. Superb defending.
51'
Foul by Kauko
Jordan O'Doherty gathers the ball and takes a brilliant turn to leave his marker high and dry. Joni Kauko has no option but to go with a rash tackle and he brings down Jordan O'Doherty. Kauko is lucky to not get booked here.
49'
Punches it out
Sarthak Golui commits a foul on the left flank and ATKMB have a free kick. Dimitri Petratos serves a loopy ball inside the box but Kamaljit Singh jumps out and punches it out of danger. After that, Jordan O'Doherty further heads it away. ATKMB have again started the half brightly.
48'
First corner for ATKMB
ATKMB win one corner on the right side now. Dimitri Petratos sends it outside the box, Joni Kauko attempts to hit it on the volley but slices his attempt. It's a poor attempt and is eventually cleared.
46'
Early move
EBFC immediately win a corner on the left side, their fifth of the game. Jordan O'Doherty swings it inside the box but it has been cleared easily. The ball is once again played inside the box but Thongkhosiem Haokip is caught offside.
46'
Resumption
We're back! The men concerned are out on the field as well. It's going to be EBFC to start proceedings. They will now operate from left to right. Let's Football...
Action-packed half!
What an incredible half we witnessed! It was played in top gear from both sides. ATKMB were on the attack right from the beginning and looked like the better side. They created a few opportunities but weren't clinical to put it past the goalkeeper. East Bengal FC took some time to grow into the game. They absorbed the initial pressure brilliantly and then upped their game in the attacking third. There were some excellent passes but just like ATKMB, EBFC also lacked the finishing touch. In the 16th minute, Thongkhosiem Haokip's header was stopped with a dive by Vishal Kaith and that was the closest any team came to scoring a goal. It's been a pulsating Kolkata Derby so far and it has certainly lived up to all the expectations. Expect the same in the next half and hope for a few goals to add to the drama and excitement.
45'
Half-time!
There goes the whistle and it is all square at the break.
45'
Added time!
The referee has indicated two minutes of added time.
43'
Good defending!
ATKMB are finishing the half on a high! Hugo Boumous gets the ball on the left side and decides to cut in and take on the EBFC defense but his shot is a weak one and scoops into the hands of Kamaljit Singh.
41'
Flying header!
Asish Rai gets to the looping ball inside the box and puts in a diving header but it goes straight to the keeper. Jerry Lalrinzuala was marking him but went done and is looking a bit winded.
38'
Deflection!
Sarthak Golui gets to the loose ball outside the box and fires in a shot but it hits Deepak Tangri and goes out for a corner. No damage done from the set piece as well.
34'
Counter-attack!
Sarthak Golui to the rescue again for EBFC. Liston Colaco gets the ball on the left flank but his touch is too heavy and Sarthak Golui bangs it away for a throw-in. ATKMB continue their search for the first goal.
32'
Great chance!
EBFC with some last-ditch defending. Hugo Boumous picks up the ball on the right side and dribbles past two defenders to get a clear sight of the goal, but as he goes to shoot Sarthak Golui comes across and blocks it and clears it away.
27'
Yellow card
A poor tackle! Sarthak Golui misplaces his pass in the middle and Joni Kauko gets to it first, but Charis Kyriakou makes a late challenge and misses the ball. The referee plays advantage but pulls back and gives a yellow card to Charis Kyriakou.

23'
Penalty shout
Jordan O'Doherty collects the loose ball and puts in a run inside the box. He gets surrounded by plenty of ATKMB defenders and eventually goes down. Jordan gets up appealing for a penalty but the referee signals play on. The replays show that Jordan O'Doherty was not in control of the ball and the contact made with him was accidental. A good call.
19'
Too much power
Naorem Singh threads in a through pass to breach the defensive wall of ATKMB. It's aimed for Cleiton Silva's run but Vishal Kaith runs forward and dives to collect the ball inside the box. EBFC have upped their game now in the attacking third.
16'
Nearly a goal for EBFC
ATKMB have been the brighter side so far but the best chance of the half has fallen to EBFC. Naorem Singh collects the loopy ball in the left flank and sends it across the face of the goal. Thongkhosiem Haokip is left unmarked and releases his header but Vishal Kaith is alert and makes a decisive save, diving across to his left. The crowd is loving every bit of action here.
14'
Strong defending
ATKMB try to hit on the counter. Liston Colaco is set free forward who speeds towards the box. Ivan Gonzalez spots the danger, tracks Colaco well and forces him to lose the ball. It's a goal kick.
11'
Hits the side netting
Hugo Boumous sets it up for Liston Colaco from the left side but the latter's attempt hits the side netting. Kamaljit Singh, anyway, was ready to push it away. ATKMB are not only dominating possession but are also looking quite dangerous to make the early move.
9'
Good attempt
EBFC win a throw-in on the right side in ATKMB's half. Sarthak Golui shows his muscle power to loop it inside the box. Thongkhosiem Haokip attempts a bicycle kick but fails to get the connection right.
5'
Just wide of the post
That's the best chance of the half so far. Dimitri Petratos puts in an excellent run in the left flank and reaches the byline before cutting it back inside the box. Subhasish Bose traps the ball, takes a touch to compose himself but shoots it wide of the far post. ATKMB continue to play in EBFC's half and are maintaining good pressure.
4'
Overcooked
Liston Colaco has the ball at his feet in the left flank and he speeds forward. Puts the ball inside the box but it has too much power on it and Dimitri Petratos fails to reach at the end of the pass. ATKMB are looking quite organized with their attacking game.
2'
First attack
ATKMB try to build an attack from the right side. Asish Rai rushes forward with the ball and tries to put in a cross but his attempt goes wide of the mark. ATKMB will look to gather the early momentum.
1'
Let's Football
Here we go! ATKMB get the first touch on the ball and they will be operating from left to right in this half. 4-2-3-1 is the formation opted by ATKMB while EBFC are going with a 4-3-3 combination. Let's Football...
Toss
All in readiness here now! The slight delay has only added to the excitement and the capacity crowd is pumped up. Out come the players from both teams. Cleiton Silva wins the toss and chooses the side. ATKMB to start the game!
Delayed start
The Kolkata Derby has been delayed by 20 minutes and will start at 7.50 pm IST.
East Bengal FC (Starting XI)
Kamaljit Singh (GK), Ivan Gonzalez, Lalchungnunga, Sarthak Golui, Jerry Lalrinzuala, Charis Kyriakou, Jordan O'Doherty, Thongkhosiem Haokip, Cleiton Silva (C), Naorem Singh and Suhair Vadakkepeedika.
ATK Mohun Bagan (Starting XI)
Vishal Kaith (GK), Brendan Hamill, Subhasish Bose, Pritam Kotal (C), Deepak Tangri, Asish Rai, Joni Kauko, Hugo Boumous, Dimitri Petratos, Manvir Singh and Liston Colaco.
ATKMB with the edge!
ATKMB and EBFC have faced each other in the Hero ISL a total of four times in the past with ATKMB winning all of those four games. Even in the Hero ISL, 2021-22, ATKMB won both fixtures by a combined scoreline of 6-1. This season though, there is more than just hope for EBFC to avenge those losses as they look like a more complete outfit than in the past. Both teams have won just one game so far in this campaign with ATKMB playing a game less than their opponents. EBFC managed just one win in the whole of the league stage in the last campaign but this time around, the Stephen Constantine-coached team has already had a win under their kitty and will be fired up for the big derby clash. ATKMB continued their consistent showing in the Hero ISL as they reached the playoffs in the last campaign as well. ATKMB have arguably the best Indian attack in the league with the likes of Manvir Singh and Liston Colaco leading the line. EBFC have their young homegrown attacking talent with Semboi rising up the ranks quickly. It will come down to the battle between the ATKMB attack and the EBFC defense. If EBFC are able to sustain the pressure well, they will surely get chances to snatch all 3 points from their eternal rivals. It will be a packed stadium with fans split between two quality Kolkata sides. Which team will be able to draw first blood and take bragging rights?
The Mother of all Clashes!
We reach the second game of the doubleheader in Matchweek 4 of the Hero ISL 2022-23 as we witness two teams placed in the bottom half of the table battling it out for a vital victory that will help them get their campaign rolling. It is arguably the biggest rivalry in Indian football as ATK Mohun Bagan will take on East Bengal FC in the Kolkata Derby at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. It will be a feisty affair as it always is when these two sides go head-to-head and a win for either side will give them not just a big boost in terms of their campaign but will also allow the winner to take the bragging rights.
