Lionel Messi trained with his Argentina teammates for a second consecutive day in Kansas City ahead of next week's World Cup clash against Austria. Messi took part in some light drills after his family confirmed that his father, Jorge Messi, is recovering from a health issue. “At this time, he is under medical supervision, recovering and progressing favourably within the condition he is experiencing," the family said in a widely reported statement. The family did not specify the illness that the 68-year-old is suffering from. Messi became emotional after scoring his first goal against Algeria in Argentina's World Cup opener on Tuesday. He later explained that the tears were due to matters outside of football. The Argentina superstar went on to score his first World Cup hat-trick in the 3-0 win over Algeria. The treble helped Messi equal Germany's Miroslav Klose's all-time World Cup scoring record with 16 goals. The defending champions face Austria in the second Group J match in Dallas on Monday.
