Erling Haaland and Norway were billed as dark horses heading into the tournament, and they've justified the tag. After sealing knockout qualification in just two games, they beat five-time champions Brazil and took England down to the wire. Even today, they could've won had their goal stood in the second half.

Erling Haaland has been taken off! For the first time in FIFA World Cup 2026, Erling Haaland does not score in a game. It hasn't been Haaland's day. Not only did he not manage to score, he also committed the foul that saw Norway's goal ruled out in the second half.

PENALTY OVERTURNED! The referee pointed to the spot as Djed Spence went down in the box after a duel with Oscar Bobb. But VAR asks the referee to have a check at the monitor, and he overturns the penalty call, stating that Spence initiated the contact. Huge reprieve for Norway!

Norway had a few chances to take the lead in the second half, they even put the ball into the net, but be it VAR or the post, they were denied.

Djed Spence, brought on just a few minutes ago, presses Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland all the way and forces an error! Nyland's clearout ends up hitting the charging Spence, but fortunately for Norway, it goes out before Spence could get it under control.

Lovely run by Saka on the right, he beats his man and fizzes in a low cross that beats Norway's defence, but no England man gets onto the end of it! Norway manage to clear it out for a corner.

Antonio Nusa and Oscar Bobb have been very lively for Norway after coming on, and they threaten England once again. Nusa cuts in, England have three defenders on him and they defend, Norway switch the play, Bobb cuts in, and then the play goes back to Nusa who cuts in and shoots again but straight at Pickford. Breathless stuff.

Djed Spence is being brought on at right-back by England. Fresh legs to deal with Nusa.

POST! Huge chance for Norway but the crossbar saves England. Pickford saves from the corner, Aursnes shoots the rebound, then Norway left-back Wolfe slams a looping header that comes off the crossbar. Huge scare for England, but they survive.

Norway are on the front foot after the hydration break, and their substitutes Bobb and Nusa are in the heat of the action. Bobb cuts into the box from the right but sees his attempt blocked. Moments later, Nusa with some trickery on the other wing, then a shot and he wins a corner.

Reece James is back in action for England, having suffered an injury earlier in the tournament. James replaces left-winger Anthony Gordon, who assisted Bellingham's goal. Although James usually plays as a right-back, looks like he will slot into the midfield pivot alongside Elliot Anderson, with Eze going to the left wing now. Bellingham moves back to his No. 10 role.

Two changes for Norway as we approach the 70th minute. Goalscorer Andreas Schjelderup has been taken off, with Antonio Nusa coming on. Oscar Bobb replaces Alexander Sorloth on the other wing. A game to forget for Sorloth, as he missed a fair few chances.

NORWAY GOAL RULED OUT! Corner swung in again, Alexander Sorloth shoots at goal, Pickford saves but Norway centre-back Torbjorn Heggem puts it in! But the referee is called by VAR to check a possible foul by Haaland on Elliot Anderson in the build-up. And the foul is given!

Cross into the box by Norway, Erling Haaland slams a header despite tight marking and forces Jordan Pickford to make a diving save. He angled that header downwards, and won a corner for Norway.

A great delivery by Julian Ryerson from the corner, straight into the mixer, but Norway miss out. Time for another corner!

The second half is underway! Thomas Tuchel has made two big changes for England. Declan Rice and Noni Madueke are off, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka are on. Bellingham will likely drop into a deeper role now, alongside Elliot Anderson.

Five World Cup 2026 goals for Jude Bellingham now. Winning goal in their opening match, winning goal in their final group match, two goals in their Round of 16 clash against Mexico, and now an equaliser in the quarter-final against Norway. Hard to argue that he hasn't been the best midfielder of the World Cup so far.

HALF TIME! What a first half it has been in Miami. It was a slow burner, and we had to wait 36 minutes for the first goal. But then the game lit up. Schjelderup opened the scoring for Norway against the run of play, Norway then messed up a golden chance, Bellingham equalised with a beautiful goal, and Kane nearly made it 2-1 but he was offside!

Massive opportunity goes begging for Norway! Alexander Sorloth and Erling Haaland burst into a 2v1 counter-attack, but John Stones' positioning leaves Sorloth in two minds and he ends up taking too long to pass or shoot, ultimately wasting the chance.

GOOOOOAAAAALLLLL! Andreas Schjelderup puts Norway in front against England! Norway win the ball back in England's half, Harry Kane is the one dispossessed. Schjelderup takes a powerful shot from the edge of the box that beats Pickford and goes in! Not sure whether it is a shot or cross, but it has done the trick!

Harry Kane thinks he has been fouled, he looks very unhappy, but there is no VAR intervention. Norway lead!

John Stones with a very sloppy pass in the England box, Erling Haaland was chasing down the loose ball but Jordan Pickford came off his line very quickly to prevent any danger. Nearly a catastrophic error by Stones. England survive a gigantic scare.

For the first time today, the Norway fans perform the Viking Row celebration in the crowd at the Miami Stadium. The celebration has become a symbol of Norway's World Cup run!

Jude Bellingham wins a free-kick for England right on the edge of the Norway box. Harry Kane takes a powerful shot from the free-kick, but it goes over the bar. Relief for Norway.

Nico O'Reilly overlaps into the box but overhits his cross, which is kept in play by Madueke at the far post. Madueke then sends in a low cross across goal, Kane can't meet it, but it takes a deflection and falls to O'Reilly, who wasn't prepared! There was an open goal for a moment, but O'Reilly's first touch let him down after the ball took a deflection.

England build-up patiently once again with Norway sitting deep in their half. Elliot Anderson sends in a powerful cross from the left, Jude Bellingham tries to head it but doesn't manage to. Game of chess at this point at Miami.

England are being extremely patient in their build-up. Anthony Gordon tries to create a chance by driving towards the byline, but Norway right-back Julian Ryerson defends well and gets it out for an England corner. It's a poor delivery by England and Norway clear the danger.

Norway make another inroad into the England box. It's a cross towards Haaland, who is in space but doesn't go for a shot. Haaland ends up lobbing it back, but England manage to clear. Jude Bellingham brings the ball forward and wins a foul.

Norway right-winger Alexander Sorloth wins the ball back on the right and drives forward, but he is unable to find Haaland's run with a throughball. John Stones cuts out the pass, winning back possession for England.

Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Martin Odegaard are the star names, but one must watch out for their partners in attack. The 6'5" Alexander Sorloth has been a dynamic right-winger for Norway, and could pose a unique threat to England. On the other hand, England's left-winger Anthony Gordon has been in great form in the knockout stage.

By playing today, Harry Kane is set to equal Wayne Rooney for the most appearances for England among outfield players (120). Only goalkeeper Peter Shilton is ahead of the duo in terms of appearances for England. Wouldn't put it past Kane to surpass him in the near future!

Norway captain Martin Odegaard and England's star midfielder Jude Bellingham not only wear the No. 10 jerseys for their respective nations, they also play in the No. 10 role in attacking midfield. Both have been highly influential in their country's successes so far at World Cup 2026. Whoever performs better today could play a decisive role in the outcome of the match.

England captain and star striker Harry Kane has the chance to achieve a major milestone today. If Kane scores against Norway, he will become England's outright highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup knockout matches, surpassing Gary Lineker. Currently, both Kane and Lineker are tied on six knockout goals each.

Kane will also match Brazil icon Pele's tally of seven knockout goals with a goal today.

FIFA World Cup 2026 is already Norway's most successful campaign. If they beat England, Norway will reach the semi-finals of a World Cup for the very first time. 

According to The Athletic, England manager Thomas Tuchel is set to leave star right-winger Bukayo Saka on the bench for the Norway game. Instead, Saka's Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke will start in that position. Centre-back Ezri Konsa is expected to start at right-back, with John Stones coming back into the team.

According to a report by British news outlet Daily Mail, the quarter-final between Norway and England could be postponed due to extreme heat in Miami. Temperatures are expected to reach between 29-32 degrees Celsius during the game, with a real feel of more than 40 degrees Celsius! As per the report, FIFPRO recommends delaying or postponing matches if the temperature exceeds 28 degrees Celsius.

However, as of now, the game is set to go ahead as scheduled.

Erling Haaland is already a World Cup legend. With seven goals in four games, Haaland is already Norway's highest-ever World Cup goalscorer, in what is his nation's farthest-ever World Cup run. But if Haaland scores against England, he will become the first player in the 21st century to score in each of his first five career World Cup matches.

The only two others to achieve this feat came in the previous century: France's Just Fontaine in 1958 and Germany's Gerd Muller in 1970. 

It has now been 60 years since England won the World Cup, their last triumph coming on home soil in 1966. But England have been a force so far at the ongoing tournament. Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and co. still have to win three more matches, but this is perhaps their best chance to end the wait at long last.

Despite playing their first World Cup in 28 years, Norway entered the tournament with the tag of 'dark horses'. And they have lived up to it, even beating record champions Brazil in the Round of 16. Erling Haaland, Martin Odegaard and co. have been in phenomenal form, and there's every chance that their fairytale continues even after today.
