Manchester City have hired former Barcelona director of football Txiki Begiristain to take the same role with the English champions.
The former Spain and Barcelona winger went on to work as a Barca executive between 2008 and 2010.
He says "the progress and on-field achievements at Manchester City are plain for all to see and I am honored to have been asked to contribute to its future success."
City won the English title in May for the first time in 44 years.
City is second in the Premier League, a point behind Chelsea, which plays Manchester United on Sunday.
