India dominated the Kotla ODI against England from the word go. Bowlers and two Delhi batsmen combined forces to down Alastair Cook and his team. A look:
Zoom
Praveen Kumar struck in the first over of the day when he removed Alastair Cook on a duck.
Zoom
Craig Kieswetter also left without scoring when Vinay Kumar forced an edge for Virat Kohli to complete a regulation catch.
Zoom
Jonathon Trott played a responsible knock of 34 but edged a Vinay Kumar delivery behind to give the bowler his second.
Zoom
Kevin Pietersen top-scored for England with a fluent 46 runs. He hit three boundaries and two sixes in his innings.
Zoom
Young Umesh Yadav got the prized wicket eventually when he took the edge of KP's bat and Dhoni completing the catch behind the stumps.
Zoom
England were able to stabilize largely because of Samit Patel (42) and Jonny Bairstow (35).
Zoom
The duo put on 86 runs for the sixth wicket. Bairstow (in pic) hit three boundaries in his innings while Patel had two and two sixes against his name.
Zoom
Yadav eventually got the breakthrough when he got the wicket of Patel. The rest of the batsmen could not do much as England folded on 238 in 48.2 overs.
Zoom
India's reply did not begin well. Parthiv Patel failed to make a dropped catch count and was removed by Tim Bresnan.
Zoom
Bresnan's first spell was excellent and he removed Ajinkya Rahane to leave India on 29 for 2.
Zoom
Gautam Gambhir was off the block after negating the initial English attack. He took his time but then played shots to the fence at will.
Zoom
Kohli at the other end was immaculate with his technique. He soon overtook his partner and completed his half-century.
Zoom
Gambhir followed within minutes and by now, the fate of the match had swung in India's favour completely.
Zoom
Alastair Cook could not do much as every move of his was thwarted by the Delhi batsmen, with authority.
Zoom
Kohli fired all guns blazing towards the end of the match and helped himself to his 7th ODI century and gifting his team and fans, an emphatic 8-wicket win.
